what does an Individual need most to survive ?
the answer is oxygen. and after oxygen comes water.
So the early humans started living where potable water was easily available. And the river used to be a primary source of water. this is one of the reasons all ancient civilisation flourishd along rivers.
there were many such great rivers.
the indus, the Euphrates, the yellow river.
So the civilisation which developed along these rivers became the ancient.
out of which the Indus valley Civilisation is the most ancient one !

Latest discoveries from Bhirrana, Haryana, in India since 2012 onwards, by archeologist K.N.Dikshit indicate that Hakra ware from this area dated from early 7500 BC.
Bhirrana is the oldest (7500 BC) cite in India.
A piece of wood recovered from the site, possibly a tool, has been radio carbon dated to 7500 BC,including settlement in very early period.
