The wire A with 15 A rating is thicker. It is because, thicker the wire, less is the resistance and hence it can carry more current.

The 5 A wire is thinner .

Thus the current flowing is low because it has to flow through a smaller area compared to thick wire.

The fuse is a safety device which limits the amount of current flowing in the circuit .

The material of the electric fuse is made up of an alloy of lead and tin .

The reasons are as follows :

The alloy has low melting point .

The alloy has more resistance .

Details :

It is made up of a material which has low melting point.

This will overheat them and make them melt easily.

Thus the fuse can easily break the circuit and save it if there is any excess current flowing in the circuit.

Explanation

The fuse is generally made up of thin piece of wire so that it offers more resistance and it can melt easily.

Thus the fuse works in the heating effect of current.

H = I²Rt

H = heat .

I = Current .

R = resistance .

t = time
