Shift key is used while dragging to maintain the height and width ratio of a shape. Usually, as a user, we use left mouse button for resizing and dragging any of the shapes in the desktop. But the user can make use of the shift key to resize the shape. This can be done by pressing and holding the shift key until the shape is resized.
