Doing is actually about the introduction of impurities intentionally in semiconductor in order to modulate it's electrical properties .The material which is doped is known as the extrinsic semiconductor  . If you doped too much a semiconductor so that it result in the total conductor like properties in semiconductor then it will known as degenerative semiconductor.

But these can result in electronic defects like the defect in the host compounds properties and defects may result in undesirable properties.
