Which kind of federation gives unequal powers to it's constituent units?
Answers
“Holding Together" is the right answer.
The Indian federalism is designed by “Holding Together” principle of federalism. This type of federalism does not furnish equal power to its constituting members. Some of the features of this type of federalism are the following:
1. No identical power is given to the states with the union ministry.
2. In order to preserve and protect the cultures, custom, linguistic diversity and traditions, some of the states of India have been conferred independent statuses, such as Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern States.
3. There are some territories in India which have a union-like Lakshadweep, Chandigarh, and the capital city of Delhi. These areas come under the authority of the Union ministry hence, they are most commonly known as the Union territory.
