As the part of the Gondwana land broke out , it started drifting towards the north resulting in the collision with the much larger Eurasian plate and thus leading to the uplifting of the sediments present in the Tethys sea which was in the middle . This in the due course of time got hardened and became the himalayan mountains . Thus the himalayas was formed due to the drifing of the part of Gondwana land.
