Firstly there are two types of lymphocytes
1. B lymphocytes
2. T lymphocytes
The B lymphocytes are produced in the bone marrow while the T lymphocytes in the thymus. The T lymphocytes are responsible for the immunity of an individual. As thymus disintegrates after the age of 60-65 years, old people tend to get affected with colds, coughs, several other diseases easily. Even the B lymphocytes are responsible for immunity but they block the virus from entering inside the body. So they tend to kill them.
