petroleum is nicknamed as black gold becoz of the following reasons :
petroleum is scarce and hard to find in the earth"s subsurface....

petroleum is very costly to extract ...huge amounts of money and sphisticated equipments are dedicated to bringing out petroleum from the sub surface....

petroleum is very valuable..crude oil is the virtual backbone of our modern lives..we are virtually surrounded by products that have been produced from crude oil in one manner or the other....

petroleum, because when crude oil is extracted from the land it is black in color. People call it gold because of its oils and value . It is very difficult to find. So it is called Black Gold.
