Gram Panchayats, Municipal Councils and Municipalities take various measures for controlling mosquito menace. Mosquitos cause several diseases and transmit them easily from human to human. Dengue is one disease that has posed a serious threat, in recent times and which has resulted in several deaths.
Government bodies spread awareness through distribution of pamphlets and announcements on various methods of preventing mosquitoes from breeding. They also undertake fumigation which kills mosquitoes. Unnecessary foliage is trimmed and stagnant water removed or sprayed with oil to prevent mosquito breeding.
