Sodium, Potassium and the other more active alkalis. It does not need to be kerosene but should be a non-polar solvent with no water. Some metals are shipped in sealed cans, and perhaps under an inert atmosphere. Oxygen and moisture are kept from them by the oil layer which prevents reaction. I once was making some demos in a movie set, one involved putting potassium in water, I had the potassium in toluene and before I was done, the heat from the bright lights had the vapor making my eyes blink a lot.
