The nervous system is made up of Neurons. These Neurons have ‘finger-like’ projections on their bodies, which are capable of receiving and transmitting signals.

 

Those projections which can carry signals away from cell body are called Axons and those which carry signals towards cell body are called Dendrites. Bundles of Axons and Dendrites are called Nerves.

 

It is these Nerves, that send signals between organs of our body and the brain
