(( if you don't know already, the problem is talking about "place value" ))

examples:

128 = 100 + 20 + 8 .... so place value of 2 is 20, and place value of 1 is 100

place value of 4 in 3.846 = 0.04

so 1/10 times of 0.04 = 0.04 / 10 = 0.004

place value of 4 in

(i) 4

(ii) 0.4

(iii) 0.04

(iv) 0.004

so correct answer is (d) 0.104

Answer:

The correct answer is option (D) 0.104

Step-by-step explanation:

Given number is 3.846

The position of the digit 4 in the number 3.846 = hundredth

The value of the digit 4 in the number 3.846 = \frac{1}{100}

The value of the digit \frac{1}{10} times as great as the value of the digit  4 in the number 3.846 =  \frac{1}{100}× \frac{1}{10} = \frac{1}{1000}

Now consider the options

A) 24.062-

The value of digit 4 in the number 24.062 = 1

B) 0.405 -

The value of the digit 4 in the number 0.405 = \frac{1}{10}

C) 2.946

The value of the digit 4 in the number 2.946  = \frac{1}{100}

D) 0.104

The value of the digit 4 in the number 0.104  = \frac{1}{1000}

∴ The number in which the digit 4 have a value that is 1/10 times as great as the digit 4 in the number 3.846 =  0.104

Hence, the correct answer is option (D) 0.104
