The food we take in comprising of nutrients like carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and mineral is then digested in form of cellulose and then absorbed, assimilated and egested

  • Large molecular weight compounds like proteins, carbohydrates and lipids have complex structure.
  • They require specific enzyme for hydrolysis before absorption.
  • Hence, they are not absorbed by GIT.
  • On the other hand simple substances like water, minerals, vitamins, simple carbohydrates are easily absorbed due ti small size.
