Carbonic acid does not react with metals, 'cause they are weak acids.

ThePhoenix: Can you pls explain why??? I don't understand...In my chemistry book, it is given,
ThePhoenix: metals + dilute acids -> metal salt + hydrogen gas
ThePhoenix: As all are acids, shouldn't they all react with metals?

Answer:

3. Carbonic Acid

Explanation:

Metals react only with strong acids.

Hence, they do not react with carbonic acid since it is a weak acid.
