Water intensive crops are - sugarcane and rice

Water intensive crops are also known as thirsty crops. These are the crops which absorb large amount of water for their growth.

They are responsible for water scarcity and they are harm to ground water table.

Rice uses 3000-5000 litres of water for production of one kilogram of rice.

Sugarcane requires 1500-3000 litres of water for one kilogram production.
