The fertilizers which are prepared by combining different chemicals at appropriate ratio, it is called as chemical fertilizers.  They are mixes containing high centralization of supplements required for plant development.

Aside from the three primary constituent components, carbon, oxygen and hydrogen, plants require significant amount of supplements which are added to it in the form of fertilizers.  

Humus refers to the content, formed by the decay of leaves and other plant material by the microorganisms present in the soil. Thus chemical fertilizers cannot provide this to the soil.
