Answer:

Explanation:

Halide are hydrolyzed by two methods

Coordinate bond method

H bond method

Coordinate bond method is used for which is electronegative and has lone pair also

H bond method is used for empty orbital compound

And max bond capacity should not be complete

N has configuration 1s22s22p3 means maximum bond capacity is 3 so

Ncl3 and nf3 cannot be hydrolysed

The following halide cannot be hydrolyzed:

(B) NF3

- For hydrolysis of halides, there must be vacant d- orbitals to accept the lone pair of electrons.

- But there are no vacant d- orbitals in N atom.

- Due to this NF3 cannot be hydrolyzed.

- By this logic, NCl3 also should not undergo hydrolysis but this is not the case.

- NCl3 undergoes hydrolysis because Cl atom has vacant d- orbitals.

- Hence, only NF3 cannot be hydrolyzed.
