The answer is statin.

Statin is a commercial blood cholesterol lowering agent.

This reduction is done by statins by lessening the blocking an enzyme present in the liver. This enzyme is responsible for producing cholesterol. When the enzyme is blocked, the cholesterol production by the liver gets reduce automatically.

Statins are also chemically known as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors after the name of the enzyme that they block.
