The answer is statin.

Statin is a commercial blood cholesterol lowering agent.

Statin reduces the cholesterol in the blood by blocking an enzyme found in the liver. This enzyme is responsible for the production of cholesterol. When this happens, the cholesterol that is produced by the liver reduces on its own.  Statins are also chemically referred to as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors after the name of the enzyme that they are responsible for blocking.
