Connotation can be a murderer. The hunter in certain circumstance selects a hunt for the survival. Rainsford has described him as a big game hunter as he loved the sport. Hunting was not a necessity but a pleasure.

The person who hunts is applicable to a hunter. Murdered is also a hunter who is a much more negative expression.  Here a sense of evilness is an appropriate connotation.
