______ _________ , ______

Manure

Manure is a natural fertilizer. To make manure, decomposition of plants and animal waste is done by farmers. The product of this decomposition is a material rich in organic matter which we call manure.

Advantages

lant Growth

Organic manures provide nutrients that are important for growth of plants. They act slower and are gentler as compared to chemical fertilizers. Chemical fertilizers, when used in excess, may cause burning of plants. There is no such risk when one uses organic manures. Heavy rain cannot wash organic fertilizers, and hence, plants can obtain the nutrients from the fertilizer for a long time. This results in, an improved plant growth.

Soil Improvement

Manures help in the improvement of nutrient content of soil and soil structure. On the other hand, chemical fertilizers add water-soluble chemicals to the soil. Either, the plant roots, absorb these chemicals, or the chemicals leach away, causing pollution of water resources. Organic manures add organic matter to the soil, which help the soil in retaining nutrients and moisture. Organic fertilizers are extremely helpful to sandy soils.

Slow Release of Nutrients:

When an individual mixes fertilizers into the soil, the plant roots absorb the nutrients. In case of synthetic fertilizers, the nutrients are present in the ready-to-use form. The plant roots absorb a chemical fertilizer immediately, when one adds it to the soil. However, in case of synthetic fertilizers, there is a risk of the roots absorbing more nutrients than what is necessary, which may cause the plants and roots to burn. In case of organic manures, the nutrients are not present in a ready-to-use form. When organic manure is added to soil, the microorganisms present in the soil, work on the manure to break it up and release the manure’s nutrients. This process is quite slow and eliminates the risk of plant roots absorbing too much of nutrients.

MANURE

Manure is a natural substance obtained by the decomposition of cattle dung, human waste and plant residues. It can be prepared in fields. it provides a lot of humus to the soil.Manure is relatively less rich in plant nutrients.

ADVANTAGES OF MANURE

  • It enhances the water holding capacity of the soil.
  • It makes the soil porous due to exchange of gas become easy.
  • It increases the number of friendly microbes.
  • It improves the texture of the soil.
