Lines are perpendicular to each other only if the product of their slopes is equal to -1...

we know that Y = mX + c is slope intercept form of a line where
m = slopes of a line
c = Y - intercept

Given equation y = -5x - 1 have slope m1 = - 5 on comparing by above standard equation of a line...

For a line to be perpendicular on given line we must have m1 × m2 = - 1 where m2 is the slope of other line
=> -5 × m2 = - 1
=> m2 = 1 / 5
Other line must have slope = 1 / 5
We get slope = 1 / 5 from Option D
So Option is D here..

xmodzx: It was actually C but thanks
ankitrishab: i have. also written c
GovindRavi: its not C...
ankitrishab: so which
xmodzx: C was the right answer for me so idk
GovindRavi: check ur answer...if C is your Option...then Slope of a line from option C is -5 and slope of a given line is also -5...If find out the product of their slopes we get 25....But it should come - 1...
GovindRavi: Its ok...
xmodzx: Ye I checked it C was correct sorry
