✴ Addition compounds are formed when a solution containing two or more simple stable compounds is allowed to stand. They are grouped into two categories :
- Double salts are formed by mixing two apparently satured compounds which lose their identity when dissolved in water, give test for all individual ions and exist only in the solid state.
- Complex or coordination compounds are the vompounds in which the central metal atom is linked to number of ions or neutral molecules by coordinate bonds. They do not give test for all constituent ions due to formation of complex ion and exist in solid state as well as in aqueous solution.
