Since the complete question is not given here I'm providing the definition to the exogenous trees and the endogenous trees. Exogenous trees, which consists of a huge majority of the modern trees which includes the various I conifers broadleaf trees which grows in the surface of the earth grow by the addition of new wood outwards, immediately under the bark. On the other hand, an Endogenous trees, which comprises of mainly the monocotyledons which we can take as an example of the palm grow by addition of new material inwards. This is the main difference between the exogenous and endogenous trees.

. Exogenous trees: Exogenous trees are the trees which grow by addition of new woods outwards under the bark.

As exogenous tree grows it creates growth rings.

These rings in exogenous trees can be counted to determine the age of the tree.

These rings are also used to date cores or even wood taken from trees long time ago.

This process of determining the date or the age of the tree is known as the science of dendrochronology.
