R-selected species produce a large number of offspring which are small in size.(3) The offspring require little or no parental care and have a high mortality rate. E.g. insects, rodents.

K-selected species produce a small number of offspring which are large in size. The offspring require a high degree of parental care and mature slowly. E.g. Elephants and humans
