  • Lithosphere is a rigid, outermost layer of our Earth's rocks & minerals, which consists of the crust & upper mantle. As we know these terms 'litho-sphere' came from the Greek word litho, which means 'stone' and 'sphere' referring to rough shape of our Earth.

  • Lithosphere is a solid layer of the outer part of Earth. This  lithosphere includes a brittle upper portion of our mantle & the crust, outermost layers of  the Earth's structure. It will be bounded by the atmosphere above & the asthenosphere (another part of the upper mantle) below.
