(a) and (c) are not polynomials as the power of x cannot be negetive.
1/x=x power-1.

Just one thing:Check where x has root and is in denominator. If it is so,then the given one is not a polynomial

a) and c) are not polynomials.

A polynomial can be written as an expression in the form of f(x) = a + bx + cx^2 + dx^3 ...nx^r

where n is not equal to 0, this is called a polynomial.

Here are some conditions that must be fulfilled while writing a polynomial:

  • Several terms present in the expression of a polynomial need to be finite numbers.
  • x should not be in the denominator
  • The power of all the variables present in the expression has to be a non - negative integer.

So here in the given question, in options a) and c), x is present in the denominator which is against the condition.

Therefore, the expressions 2/3x+1 and 1/x-1 are not polynomial.
