If there are some lone pairs of electrons around the central atom,and if there is an odd no. ,the molecule is polar. Just like this molecule SF4. Here, there is only one lone pair around the central atom (sulphur) which is odd no. so, SF4 is polar molecule.

SF4 is polar.bcoz it has see saw shape which is unsymmetrical.so it is polar
