Given :  equation x-2y-6=0

To Find : which of the following ordered pairs is the solution of the equation x-2y-6=0

a.(2,4)

b.(0,3)

c.(-4,1)

d.(4,-1)

Solution:

ordered pair  which is solution of the equation  x-2y-6=0

will satisfy the equation

x-2y-6=0

a.(2,4)

substitute x = 2 and y = 4

=> LHS =  2 - 2(4) - 6

= 2 - 8 - 6

= -12

≠ RHS

b.(0,3)

substitute x =0 and y = 3

=> LHS =  0 - 2(3) - 6

= 0 - 6 - 6

= -12

≠ RHS

c.(-4,1)

substitute x = -4 and y = 1

=> LHS =  -4 - 2(1) - 6

=-4 - 2 - 6

= -12

≠ RHS

d.(4,-1)

substitute x = 4 and y = -1

=> LHS =  4 - 2(-1) - 6

=4 +2 - 6

= 0

= RHS

Hence  (4 , 1) is the required ordered pair
