Option B i.e  Nationalism is the correct answer.

The rise of Nationalism in 19th century played an important role in the unification of Germany and Italy. The people began to be loyal to the nation, not the king.

We see after the fall of Rome, Italy and Germany were divided into various small states and mostly controlled by neighbors. The great leaders of both the countries like Mazzini, Garibaldi (Italy) and Otto von Bismark (Germany)  contributed immensely to the growth and nourishing of Nationalism. They aroused the enthusiasm of the people and kept alive the spirit of insurrection.
