‘The orbital time period of satellite moving around planet is independent of its mass’ is a correct statement.

Option: (1)

Explanation:

  • Let's us consider a ‘satellite of mass’ m is moving around the earth. Let's us consider the ‘Mass of the earth’ to be M and the ‘mass of the satellite’ is m.
  • The force of attraction due to gravity is \bold{\frac{G M m}{r^{2}}}. Here G is the universal gravitation constant. Now if we consider the centripetal force it is equal to \bold{\frac{m v^{2}}{r}}.
  • Now these two forces are equal and opposite. Hence if we put them together the \bold{\frac{G M}{r}=v^{2}}. Now velocity is the \bold{\frac{2 \pi R}{t}} and if we equate it. Then the time is not dependent on the ‘mass of the satellite’.
