Friction does not act on a ball moving through air. ⇒ This statement is incorrect.

Friction acts on a ball rolling along the ground. This statement is true because the ball is in the contact with the ground and the ground applies the force of friction on the ball which is opposite to the motion of the ball, which ultimately makes it stop after sometime.

Friction acts on a boat moving on water. This statement is true because the boat is in the contact with the water and the water also applies friction on the boat. Water is a fluid and the friction exerted by objects moving through fluids is known as drag.

Friction acts on a bicycle moving on a smooth road. This statement is also true because the bicycle is in the contact with the smooth road. Even though the road is smooth, still there are some irregularities on its surface. When the irregularities of road interlock with the irregularities of bicycle, then friction comes into play.

Friction does not act on a ball moving through air. This statement is false. Air is a fluid, therefore it also exerts friction called drag on the objects moving through air in every direction.
