The answer for this question is option (d)- The king wanted a divorce from his wife.

King Henry VIII departed from the catholic church in 1534 behalf of many reasons but the most important one among them was he wanted a male hair for his kingdom. He thought he was cursed for marrying his brother’s widow when several babies those were born to him and Catherine Of Aragon had died. So he wanted divorce from his wife Catherine of Aragon and wanted to have a legitimate male hair. When pope disagreed with his opinion of getting a divorce he decided to leave the church.
