The inverse of a function f(x) is another function g(x) such that

If y= f(x) for a certain variable x within the domain of f,

then x=g(y), i.e., operating the inverse function g on the result of f will provide us the original variable x.

Now, for f(x)= 5x-4, let y= 5x-4 for a certain x

Therefore, x=(y+4)/5
This is the inverse function g, therefore, substituting a generic variable x for y:

g(x)= (x+4)/5is the inverse function
