Action research has two alternatives.

It is either research initiated to solve an urgent problem or a reflective process of a problem, progressive in nature.

Problem-solving is led by individuals working with others as part of a "community of practice" to improve the methodology by which they address issues and solve problems.

There are two kinds of  action research:

•    participatory and

•    practically further explanation needed.
