The two ports used by the European companies to gain trading power in India were the ports in Surat and Madras. Thereafter Bombay and Calcutta ports became important.
EXPLANATION:
Many of the European companies had a large number of resources and so it was a stiff competition which was faced by the Indian Merchants for selling their products. The European countries were slowly gaining power and monopoly over the trading due to the concessions from the lower courts.
This resulted in the decline of the Madras and Surat ports. The trading flourished through the Bombay and Calcutta ports.
