Iron will be preferred for the recovery of copper from the leached copper ore.
- Zinc is more reactive than iron and copper (as it is evident from the fact that it is placed above them in reactivity series).
- Thus, it can easily replace copper.
- But due to the reason that zinc is a costlier metal than iron, it is not used.
- So to keep the extraction economical and profitable, use of iron scrapes is preferred.
