If you are comparing between LED and Incandescent bulbs, the LEDs use less electricity for the same amount of light produced. A 12-watt LED bulb equals the same amount of light from a 60 watt incandescent bulb.
For more information, check out this blog post that compares LED, CFL, and incandescent lighting. This is not answerable until you specify what bulb and what LED.
LEDs in general are more efficient and produce more light per watt than incandescent bulbs, but I have here a 40 watt bulb that uses 40 watts, and a 150 watt LED spotlight that uses ..wait for it.. 150 watts. That LED uses more electricity than that bulb. All comparisons need to be done between lights with the same number of lumens (a measure of light output).
An 800 lumen incandescent bulb uses 40 watts of electricity
An 800 lumen LED light uses about 8 watts of electricity.
CFL bulb consume less electricity
