Explanation:

Answer:-

a) increased use of public transport

Why?

  • First, let me clear out why not other options.
  • Cutting more trees will lead to lose of trees and this will lead to lose of Oxygen which we don't want.
  • Secondly, use of more coal and petroleum is indirectly relating to burning of Fossil fuels which generates Carbon Monoxide and other harmful pollutants which harm us greatly.
  • And going everywhere in cars that too personal ones, will lead to Traffic Jams which will increase air pollution as more cars are consuming petrol or diesel and generating smoke.

Coming to the Point:--

  • We can relate this to the word Carpooling - have you heard so?
  • Carpooling is when you and your neighbours decide to go to your office alternatively in one car, so it reduces the number of cars in the road, hence reducing air pollution
  • Public Transport is beneficial as it will carry many people in less transport, that's why (a) part is correct.

At First we Must Know about Air Pollution:-

☞ Air pollution is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air. Car emissions, chemicals from factories, dust, pollen and mold spores may be suspended as particles. Ozone, a gas, is a major part of air pollution in cities. When ozone forms air pollution, it's also called smog. Some air pollutants are poisonous.

Why Not:-

➵ Cutting More trees:-

  • Deforestation has an effect on global air quality because trees release water vapor into the air which affects atmospheric temperatures and other crucial elements that keep this earth of ours ticking over nicely. ... This inevitably results in all of us breathing dirtier and more polluted air than we otherwise would.

➵ Using more coal and petroleum :-

  • When coal burns, the chemical bonds holding its carbon atoms in place are broken, releasing energy. However, other chemical reactions also occur, many of which carry toxic airborne pollutants and heavy metals into the environment.

➵ Going everywhere in cars :-

  • Cars are India's biggest air quality compromisers, producing about one-third of all India's air pollution. The smog, carbon monoxide, and other toxins emitted by vehicles are especially troubling because they leave tailpipes at street level, where humans breathe the polluted air directly into their lungs.

So, the Answer is:-

➵ Increased use of public transport :-

  • Public transportation is reducing energy consumption and harmful carbon dioxide (CO2) greenhouse gas emissions that damage the environment. Traveling by public transportation uses less energy and produces less pollution than comparable travel in private vehicles.
