Due to the colonization of African countries , a new market for slaves emerged from Africa therefore the Europeans  shifted their interest to Africa rather than India thus the death of the Indian population in south america ,Take note that the slaves were being taken by the Europeans to work in their  plantations in south america , whereby they planted cotton and other cash crops that were being processed  in large industries in Europe so for my case I will recommend your option number  1.
