Which one is correct grammatically and why so ?
Ravu asked Amar if he didn't like/liked to play cricket

tanvisawant02: ans is like
ahmed7728: ans is like because in negative form when we use helping verb as did.and did is itself a second form.so no two second forms can exist simultaneously.that's why verb after did must be of first form

Ravi asked Amar if he didn't like/liked to play cricket.

To use correct form of verb here.

Answer :-

Ravi asked Amar if he didn't like to play cricket.

Explanation :-

We use second form of verb when the sentence is in past tense. Given sentence is in past tense, yet we didn't use the second form because here, "did" is used. According to grammar, when we use helping verb like "did", "do" or does, the verb is always written in its first form. Hence, like is used here.

Ravu asked Amar if he didn’t like to play cricket.

It is important to remember that you cannot use two verbs of the same tense together.
For ex, didn’t and liked will be wrong because both are past tense

Hope this helps
