Homogeneous catalysis refers to a catalysis in which the reactants and the catalyst are in the same phase, that is, they are all solids, liquids or gases.
Example:
NO(g)
(2 SO2 (g) + O2(g) ---------------> 2 SO3 (g)
Heterogenous catalysis, on the other hand, is a catalysis in which the reactants and the catalyst are in the same phase of matter.
Pt(s)
2 SO2 (g) + O2(g) ---------------> 2 SO3 (g)
Example:
NO(g)
(2 SO2 (g) + O2(g) ---------------> 2 SO3 (g)
Heterogenous catalysis, on the other hand, is a catalysis in which the reactants and the catalyst are in the same phase of matter.
Pt(s)
2 SO2 (g) + O2(g) ---------------> 2 SO3 (g)
