I am a first year student and I would like to answer this question based on my experience till now. The answer is based on North Indian scenerio as did my schooling here and am in college here. For me, College life >>>>>>> School life. However this may not be true for all depending upon the college. Especially , if you are in a non co-ed/gender specific/boys only/ girls only college, then school life is definitely better. The reasons I feel college life is a way better than school life are as follows:-

1) Freedom:- In school we had scrictly fixed class hours. And we had to sit in a single room whole of the time. But now, it's on us whether to attend a purticular class or not (provided we do not miss more than 25% of classes). We also have provision of rescheduling classes in case of inconvenience of majority students.

2) Exposure:- In schools we had access only to a limited type of students from a single city. We were not even much familier with many school students either. Our circle was limited to just 40 students in our section. But here in college we meet almost every type of student who are from the different parts of country. Each one has something from what we can learn and improve ourselves. Be it be the academics or extra curriculars. This brings me to next point.

3) Extra curriculars:- Here in college we have literally almost every extra curriculars and co curricular activits. Singing, dancing, drama, debate, painting, photography, public speaking, enterpreneurship, NGO, coding, alumi interaction…… also sports Cricket, Badminton, Swimming, Football, Basketball, Table tennis……you name an activity and we have a society for. Nothing like that was there in school.

4) Maturity:- In schools we lived with our parents. All our actions were dictated by parents and teachers. Now we are free to make our own decisions in hostels. Yes, we may not right decisions every time. But making mistakes is the first step towards success. All we can do is learn from our mistakes. This makes us more mature. Also we learn to adjust with different people , thanks to roomates.
