Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin
It binds to the synapse of motor nuerons. It cleaves the synaptic membrane protein synaptobravein thus preventing exocytosis and release of acytylcholine. As a result muscles do not contract in response to motor neuron activity and flaccid paralysis occurs.
