Act of Union 1707  was passed by Scottish and English parliament in 1707 and formed the United Kingdom of Great Britain on 1st May 1707.  

Both the English and Scottish parliament united to form the parliament of Great Britain. The new parliament was located in the palace of Westminster in London and that is why it is known as Union of Parliaments.

England and Scotland had been under the rule of same monarchs but after Glorious revolution  and 1702-03 attempts to unite both the nations countries failed.
