But how?

• The main instrument being used inside the electric bell (as shown in the diagram) is an ELECTRO-MAGNET.

• Once the key 'K' is closed, the circuit is closed and current flows through the circuit loop. Now, the electromagnets are activated as a result of which it pulls the arm 'A'. The arm strikes the gong and makes sound.

• Now, whenever the arm is striking the gong, the market becomes open due to disconnection at point 'T'. This deactivates the electromagnet and the arm returns back to its original position.

• Again, the circuit gets closed and the cycle is repeated.
