-Chloroplasts are the organelles that are present in green plants and contains chlorophyll and is the site for the photosynthesis, a process through which plants use energy from the sun, water and carbon dioxide to make their own food.

-Chlorophyll is a pigment that is crucial for the process of photosynthesis, as the process can not occur in absence of sunlight. Chlorophyll traps sunlight during the light dependent stage, which is used to split water molecules to oxygen ions and hydrogen atoms , a process called photolysis.
