Which pair of lines in fig 8.119 are parallel? Given reasons
Answers
Concept :
If a transversal intersects two lines such that a pair consecutive interior angles are supplementary then the two lines are parallel.
Given : From figure ∠A = 115° , ∠B = 65° , ∠C = 115°, ∠D = 65°
∠A + ∠B = 115° + 65°
∠A + ∠B = 180°
Therefore, AD ‖ BC, as sum of co interior angles are supplementary (180°)
∠B + ∠C = 65° + 115°
∠B + ∠C = 180°
Therefore, AB ‖ CD, as sum of co interior angles are supplementary.
Hence , AB || CD and AD || BC lines are parallel.
