The drum head and the membrane is the part of the drum that vibrateswhen hit. The drum head along with the material and size of the drumdetermines the sound that it makes.

the drum head is struck causing a movement of air the sell amplifies the sound of the drum head developing into a sound wave the vibrating sound is from the snares drum which has wires stretched across the lower head the sound wave makes the wire jump causing the crack and snap sound.
