The non-cytoplasmic areas present inside the cytoplasm, are none other than, vacuoles, they are separated from the latter by specific membranes.
Depending upon the contents and the functions, vacuoles are of four types-- sap vacuoles, contractile vacuoles, food vacuoles and air vacuoles.
1) Sap vacuoles: It consists of a fluid which are present in sap vacuoles is often called sap or vacuolar sap. It contains (storage form) mineral salts, sugars, amino acids, esters, proteins, waste products and water soluble pigments. So, often called as a storehouse organic substances.

The other three occur in different organisms, like, contractile vacuoles occur in paramecium, food vacuoles occur in protozoan protists and several lower animals and phagocytes of higher animals (humans), air vacuoles occur only in prokaryotes.
